Day 5

The next stop on my journey is India. If humans traveled to Australia out of Africa then there are probably traces of these ancient humans on the route to Australia. Destination ---India.

I took a plane from Sydney Australia to Madurai. I went to a small village where indigenous people of India lived. People in India call them the "Scheduled Tribe." They are of the poorest people in the country. The people here are malnurished.

The haplogroup that arrived in India first is the M haplogroup.

Here in India we took many DNA samples to find that genetic marker that Spencer Wells found. Spencer Wells found one man with a marker that linked people in India to people in Africa and Australia. From these findings scientists can conclude that humans migrated from Africa to Australia via India.

During my stay here I visited the Sri Meenakshi-Sundareswara Temple.
